As a fan of Talisker, this was one I wanted to try as I’m never upset to find more affordable alternatives to whiskies I enjoy.
Talisker Storm, Island (Skye) Single Malt, 45.8% ABV
Minutia: Reviewed blind, neat in an opaque glencairn.
Color: Amontillado Sherry; 0.9.
Nose: Smoke, seashells, green fruit. Grass.
Taste: Salty smoke, sweet like caramel.
Finish: Salt, smoke, wood. Medium-short.
Guess: Caol Ila, maybe Moch?
I don’t feel to bad about the guess, as Moch is Caol Ila’s NAS alternative while this is (one of) Talisker’s. It’s decent, but doesn’t encourage any seeking out.
Score: 82
