Ardbeg Perpetuum

While there isn’t anything “special’ with this that was formally stated, the goal was to create something that just embodied “Ardbeg” so that has me interested enough to anticipate this. It seems with the past, present, future theme the mix is of old and young Ardbeg.

Ardbeg Perpetuum, Islay Single Malt, 47.4% ABV

Minutia: Bottled in 2015 after maturation in ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks. Enjoyed neat in a glencairn.

Color: Deep copper, 1.0.

Nose: Crisp, banana, floral, green smoke, vanilla, earthy.

Taste: Smoke and sweet, salt, ash.

Finish: Pepper, smoke, creamy fruit. Long.

Another quite nice attempt and really interesting. Classic Ardbeg, but some much lighter, fruitier elements that aren’t quite so typical, at least not this prominent.

Score: 86
