Bowmore 18

While this is probably too expensive to keep on hand, it’s not that expensive for something with this age and could be doable as a once in a while kind of thing. But is it worth having once in a while?
Bowmore 18, Islay Single Malt, 43% ABV
Minutia: Matured in ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks.
Color: Cognac.
Nose: Sweet, fruity nose. Apple, caramel, vanilla, oak, floral.
Taste: Sweet smoke, peppery spice, big on the fruity peat.
Finish: Medium. Smoky malt, less pepper but some.
I found this to be very nice, but not so much that I’d break $100 for it. I was surprised how well I felt the fruit and smokiness danced around each other over the course of the sip.
Score: 84
