After an errand at the mall I stopped at a bar down the hall for lunch and saw they had this. When I saw the marketing materials for this I wanted to try it so I gave it a shot. This was enjoyed neat at Louie Bar in Paramus, NJ around noon on April 8, 2019, with some water added later.
Minutia: Finished in used whiskey barrels which were used to age stout.
Color: Dark gold.
Nose: Chocolate, banana, reminiscent of Balvenie Caribbean Cask. Water clouded it, made the banana stronger, and the stouty flavor came into the nose.
Taste: Light, banana. Water made the banana sweeter.
Finish: Strong, ethanol burn into stouty linger, short. Water made it smoother, though the stout flavor became muted and malt more prominent.
This is not in my general palate range, but it was a nice change of pace and I think would be most enjoyable in warmer weather in contrast to the beer with whose flavor it is married.
Score: 75
