I’m interested in how this is since it’s pretty low priced, but the ABV looks like it’ll be disappointing. I’m definitely glad this is being done blind so I’m not biased by preconceptions or the fact that I want it to be good.
Minutia: Matured in a combination of first and second fill ex-Bourbon casks. Enjoyed neat in a glencairn.
Color: Gold.
Nose: Smoky, apple.
Taste: Light, fruity. Subtle smoke comes in.
Finish: Peat, pepper.
Guess: Low ABV, young, peated, a Bowmore.
This is one I’m glad I bought as a sample, I wouldn’t really be thrilled to be drinking a whole bottle of it. There is nothing bad or objectionable about it, but there wasn’t a ton going on at all, and it was lighter than I’d have liked.
Score: 76
